Airborne lighting system is a general concept which includes aircraft internal lighting, external lighting as well as control equipment. Airborne lighting system consists of internal lighting and external lighting. These two are essential because they guarantee the flight safety, enhance aircraft combat effectiveness, and increase the comfort. They are an important part of airborne equipment in the aircraft.
External lighting can provide other aircrafts or ground staff light signals such as flying stance, and position information, in order to guarantee the flight safety of the aircraft.
Internal Lighting can provide flight crew comfortable lighting environment and required operational lighting condition for normal flight at night or low visibility. Internal Lighting can be further categorized as cockpit lighting, cargo lighting and equipment cabin lighting.
